My d.o.b 10/05/77, my mum left her 5 kods when we were very young as she was an alcoholic, she came in to our lifes ten yrs later but has been nothing but trouble, we all have kept on forgiving her when she abuses us steals from us but now she has gone to far, she got drunk and covered her entire flat in petrol to torch but neighbours smelt it and police were called, kicking her door down just in time, now she is on bail and being charged with atempted arson and endangering lifes, we all have told police everything we know aas she needs serious help, am I wrong in helping to put her away?, will karma come and bite me? Or is this her karma, im worried about this as im a believer in karma x

Hello Marie, First(heavy sigh), allow me to applaud you for taking the steps to connect with; and create a line of communication with your mother. Now, I must inform you that “Alcoholism” is a debilitating disease with life altering consequences; it not only affects the individual who is the “Alcoholic”, but also those who care about that individual. Do NOT feel that you have done anything wrong by putting your mother away; her spirit was screaming for “HELP”, she just did not know how to ASK for it herself. The actions which took place with the gasoline being poured onto the floor of her apartment, was the actions of a lost and desperate SOUL; who had reached their “Bottom.” Everyone who is an Alcoholic has a different “BOTTOM”: to some; it may be the loss of a pet, friends, a vehicle or their family. Then there are the “HARD-CASES”; these individuals are the ones who can loose all of the a fore mentioned “comforts” and remain in their state. It takes something that “SHAKES THEM”/”KNOCKS-THEM-OFF-THEIR-FEET” in order for a glimmer of REALITY to pierce their eyes (known as “A MOMENT OF CLARITY”), to awaken them from their downward spiral. Most Alcoholics need to do this on their own, no matter how much YOU and those around you care about this individual, this person NEEDS to care MORE than that…COMBINED. Karma has already bitten you: by being Forgiving instead of setting ground rules; if your Mom wants to have a conversation, relationship, etc., with you; you require her to be around you partly sober (to start). To “FORGIVE” her actions is HINDERING her, there has been no consequences to her negative behavior. Should your Mom come out of Jail, you NEED to let her know that YOU have done ALL that you can. If she wants a relationship with you; you will NOT accept nothing short of her admitting herself into an Alcohol Rehab facility for not less than three(3)straight months. No you arent wrong in having her put away…she needs treatment and rehab and mental health help. The karma you get should be good karma,not bad. Alcoholism is a terrible illness and often the person needing the help cant even see it is needed. Let me know if you want more insight into this.
