As a counsellor I totally agree with both Jessica and Brighid.

You mentioned that communication is an all time low – well so it should be because you are no longer a romantic couple.

Unless you have a child together there is no reason to communicate at all. Unfortunately communicating with one’s ex can keep you stuck and unable to go out and find some else new. However perhaps it is too soon for you as an individual to start looking.

Five years is a reasonably long time to spend with one person – some marriages are shorter than this these days – unfortunately.

Perhaps moving on should just be about grieving and healing from this relationship and consider looking at taking uup some hobby and interest that you had put on hold whilst in that relationship.
