I would recommend you go and see a budgeting service you can be referred through citizens advice beaureau and its free. They will help you see where things are at what changes you have to make as well. Have you thought about doing some work from home to tide you over you can earn up to a certain amount before tax before it affects what you get but I suggest you ask about that with the people who pay you the benefits. You will need to change your tax code to a secondary tax code if you earn money while on a benefit. Have you thought about upskilling to be able to start a career as there is a difference between a career and a job which is a career is specialised such as an accountant or doctor which requires extensive training and study a job is something such as working at a supermarket or kfc or mc donalds or cleaning which does not involve extensive training or study unless you go into management and then they send you off on courses at their expense. The only way your situation is going to change for the better is if you take action and come up with a plan and execute that plan into action it all begins with a thought such as I would like to be a (you have to decide that) then going out there and speaking to the right people such as course providers or even the people who pay your benefits they maybe able to send you on some course to start things off and its free. From there its about networking getting in touch with potential employers and sending them your cv and covering letter. Your cv should not be more than 3 pages. The people who pay you your benefits can send you off to have a cv done for you thats free. You could contact a career service advice place its free and they can refer you to course providers and possibly help with the cv and covering letter. With the covering letter it should be specific to the role you are applying for and tell them why they should hire you over the hundreds of other applicants it should tell them what you can offer specific to the role. 70% of roles are not advertised so it pays to have contacts. Sign up with at least 6 to 8 employment agencies as well as its about networking the more exposure you have the better.
